The demands of our modern world, which is in a constant state of change, often cause an underlying state of stress which can create fatigue and can undermine your overall health and well-being. Technological advances, like cell phones and other devices that give us instant messaging and email at our fingertips, were designed to make our lives easier and more convenient. However, we all know that these devices make it virtually impossible to leave our work behind. Finding a way to separate work and home life has become an ever-present challenge. Our fast-paced society, along with family and job demands, job uncertainty, economic pressures, and concerns about safety and security, has created more intense stress than we have ever faced before.

What can you do to manage the stress in your life? Identifying unrelieved stress and being aware of its effect on your life is a first step, but it is not sufficient for reducing the harmful effects of stress. Learning to manage stress requires a willingness to work toward change.
